Risk factors of glaucoma

  • Glaucoma in familial history.
  • Age over 50 years (check of intraocular pressure is recommended every 2 years in this eye group).
  • High or too low blood pressure.
  • Thin cornea (the patient needs measuring of the thickness of the cornea or pachymetry).
  • Diabetes or other diseases damaging blood vessels can cause secondary glaucoma.
